Today's award-winning SandForce Driven SSDs are well known for their performance and features. The SandForce SF-2281 the second generation of SandForce SSD Processors - continue accelerating SSD deployment in enthusiast and mainstream client computing platforms. The SF-2281 is an ideal solution for portable storage applications where power consumption, boot-up time, application performance, responsiveness, and small form factor are important. The Client SSD Processors have integrated enhanced DuraClass Technology that is architected to leverage today's densest SLC and MLC NAND flash memory. They deliver best-in-class performance, endurance, security, and power efficiency in a "DRAM-less", single chip solution.
Endurance and Longevity
As the geometries of each generation of flash memory evolves and shrink in order to dramatically lower $/GB, the overall flash endurance is dropping at a very high rate. The 2x/3xnm NAND flash memory has less than 5K P/E cycles. The memory of tomorrow will likely be even lower than that. DuraWrite technology optimizes writes to the flash memory over conventional controllers increasing the overall endurance and reliability of the complete SSD. Highly intelligent block management and wear leveling also extends the overall endurance. With this technology, SSD manufacturers can offer their high volume, client customers enterprise class reliability and at least 5-year lifecycles.
Performance and Power Optimization
SSDs greatly outperform traditional HDDs, and in many cases reach the limits of the bus interface. Advanced high speed SATA interfaces have been implemented in newer systems to remove this performance bottleneck. SSDs are perfect to take advantage of that higher speed interface. SandForce SSD Processors deliver performance that maximizes the throughput of a 6Gb/s SATA interface with balanced read/write speeds. In extremely low-power environments, the SF-2281 can tune total SSD power consumption vs. performance by limiting the number of simultaneously active flash devices. It also supports an ultra-low power sleep mode to maximize battery life.
Client Computing Security
Data security is becoming a critical component in the digital age. SandForce SF-2281 SSD Processors feature high-level security protocols to protect the security of data stored in flash memory. DuraClass technology automatically stores data in a highly secure AES-128 hardware encrypted format that double encrypts the data. The SF-2281 SSD Processors also optionally support TCG Opal security requirements. An optional disk-level password can be required prior to system boot adding an extra level of data security assurance for business travelers carrying confidential information.
Data Protection and Reliability
The SF-2281 SSD Processors provide data protection that surpasses the leading high-performance enterprise HDDs used today. This comes from a combination of a superior higher-level BCH ECC algorithm with up to 55 bits/512 Byte sector protection and the unique RAISE (Redundant Array of Independent Silicon Elements) technology. RAISE provides the protection and reliability of RAID on a single drive without the 2x write overhead of parity. This capability is transparent to the end-user and provides peace-of mind for mobile SSD OEMs knowing their customer's data is protected.

MyDigitalSSD DDR2 Super Cache 50mm mSATA SSD Solid State DriveThe MyDigitalSSD DDR2 Super Cache mSATA SSD is nothing less than the next step in the evolution of SSD. It allows computer builders and enthusiasts to merge conventional HDD storage with SSD speed in small form factor Laptops, Netbooks, Ultrabooks and Desktops without breaking the bank. It is also the 1st mSATA SSD to feature Toshiba DDR2 NAND flash for faster data transfer and power savings. It is a Cache Drive for Desktops & Laptops with Intel® Smart Response Technology or 3rd Party Caching Software If you are a manufacturer of computers contemplating adopting Intel's new Smart Response Technology (SRT), or 3rd party caching software, and looking for the edge on your competition then look no further than the MyDigitalSSD Super Cache SSD. The Super Cache SSD will allow you to compete in the low cost PC market with an end product who's performance will run circles around most mid range offerings fitted only with a Hard Disk Drive (HDD). Current SSD offerings are between 10 and 40 times faster than your average HDD but to get the quantity of storage that customers demand you would have to spend around $300-400 on a good SSD solution. MyDigitalSSD's offering achieves the same goal but for as little as $60 + the cost of the HDD. Computer enthusiast on a budget? The Super Cache SSD is your saving grace offering performance of a professional high end rig without spending a fortune on a large SSD main drive. Or a Boot Drive for Desktop & Laptop computers You can place your OS and some important applications on this drive to dramatically improve computer response times for bringing up your most used applications while storing your data on your HDD. This set up will yield approximately 10% faster speeds vs. the Cache Drive set up but it is a little more complicated and time consuming. Highlights
About Toggle-Mode Double Data Rate 2.0 (DDR2) NAND Flash - For Improved Performance Toggle-Mode NAND is a DDR NAND solution designed to consume less power than synchronous DDR NAND flash by eliminating the clock signal typically used in synchronous DDR memories. Toshiba DDR Toggle-Mode 2.0 NAND is suitable for high performance solid state storage applications, including enterprise storage. With an asynchronous interface similar to that used in conventional NAND, the Toggle-Mode DDR Flash NAND requires no clock signal, which means that it uses less power and has a simpler system design when compared to competing synchronous NAND alternatives. The DDR interface in Toggle-Mode NAND uses a Bidirectional DQS to generate input/output signals (I/Os) using the rising and falling edge of the write erase signal and offers a ten-fold increase over the 40Mbps single data rate NAND that is widely used today. |
